📍 Where? Department of Energy
⏰ When? 1st July 2026, 10am
🪧 What? Petition hand in and demonstration
Join us to hand in our 10,000 strong #MakeGreenFair petition, and for a demonstration – it’s a critical moment to fight criminal energy pricing.
On the 1st of July, our energy bills are set to rise by another £332 a year.
Meanwhile, politicians are watching idly while energy companies pay themselves huge windfall profits. £500 of our bill already goes to profits – and that’s set to rise if the government keeps letting private firms get away with blatant profiteering.
It’s time to tell them to cut profits, break the link between gas and electricity, and bring down our bills for good by sharing the benefits of cheap renewable energy.
Energy from the wind and sun is cheap to produce, but that saving isn’t being passed on to us. It’s time to Make Green Fair.
That’s why we’re going to make some noise on the 1st of July. Our slogans for the day: Make Green Fair! End Oil Wars! Energy For All!
Can you join us demonstrating on July 1st outside the Department of Energy at 10am?
Email e4a@fuelpovertyaction.org.uk if you’d like to help out on the day.
Making Green Fair means:
1. Tackling profits that add over £500 to each of our bills
2. Breaking the link between gas and electricity that inflates the cost of cheap, clean energy
3. Distributing surplus power produced by the wind and sun instead of letting it go to waste
Our #MakeGreenFair progress so far
Last month we launched our new campaign demanding our fair share of cheap, clean energy from our wind and sun… and we’ve already seen results.
After 60+ orgs backed our open letter and 10,000 of you signed our petition, government announced a raft of measures geared towards achieving some of our demands:
- An increase to the windfall tax
- A small step towards breaking the link between gas and electricity
- A pilot of free plug in solar panels for people living in flats
These are baby steps in the right direction – but we still face energy price hikes of up to £300.
We need everybody to get behind this campaign, and force this government to take actions that should have happened in 2022.
1st July, Department of Energy – we’ll see you there.
